Re-launched Ursus takes sea trials in her stride
As you can see from the accompanying images, the newly refitted 30-metre motoryacht Ursus looks superb back in the water. And she performed equally well too last week after embarking on the first of a stringent series of sea trials on the IJsselmeer lake in the Netherlands.
For everyone at Balk Shipyard and Mulder Design involved in this highly innovative project over the past two years, Thursday 6 February was the moment of reckoning as Ursus was put through her paces on day one. Would all the work carried out on her transformation in terms of design and performance, including extending the superyacht by six metres, live up to the requirements of her owners?
The answer was a resounding yes and we’re delighted with the initial results. Ursus successfully reached the predicted speed, in line with our calculations and expectations. She also performed very well across other parameters and we’re now looking forward to the next round of trials ahead of final delivery. Well done to the expert craftsmen & engineers at Balk for the way you translated our thinking into boat reality.
