Meet the team: Three questions with project leader, yacht designer and naval architect Rene Konrad
Every month we put our questions to a yachting industry professional. This time, we caught up with Rene Konrad, project leader, yacht designer and naval architect of Mulder Design.
1 How did you get into the yachting industry?
As a child I spent summers sailing the Adriatic with my family and that is where I fell in love with the sea and of course boats. I was always curious about why they are designed and engineered in a specific way. Why is one solution better than the other? What are the upsides and the downsides of these design decisions? Is it only a fashion trend or does it also contribute to making boats better? I made my life goal to figure these things out.
2 What’s the most challenging aspect of your job?
Balancing the capabilities and qualities of our team members to optimise our design process, meet the deadlines and deliver the best possible product.
3 If you could hire any one person to be part of the MD team, who would it be and why?
Finding colleagues who share the same passion for yachts and the industry, get excited about improving their skills and creating wonderful projects together.
